Equipment

  • Mandoline Slicer - Essential for thinly slicing romaine hearts and vegetables evenly for consistent texture.

  • Stainless Steel Salad Bowl - Ideal for mixing dressings and serving the salad, providing a clean taste without altering it with plastic.

  • Korean Sesame Oil (Olive oil can be used as an alternative) - Adding authentic flavor to the salad dressing.

  • Soy Sauce Bottle - For seasoning the salad or making a simple vinaigrette if additional flavoring is needed.

  • Fresh Romaine Lettuce (Head) - The core ingredient, sourced from local markets to ensure freshness.

  • Korean Gochujang Chili Paste - A staple condiment that adds heat and depth of flavor to the salad dressing or seasoning.

  • Fresh Vegetables (carrot, red bell pepper, cucumber) - These are typically used in a Korean style romaine salad for additional crunch and color.

  • Sesame Seeds - Used for garnishing the top of the salad or incorporating into dressings or slaws within the recipe.

  • Silicone Salad Spinner - Optional, but helps to dry romaine leaves quickly after washing without losing crispness.
